Friday, Saturday and Sunday... To many people, it would be another routine weekend where you hang out with family for dinner, go for a movie with friends or shopping in a mall. But for me, I just experienced the most 'adventurous' weekend in my 20 years of life.
Two weeks ago, Cindy, Khai Ling and I have plan a trip to a highland/hillstation called Ooty, short for Udagamandalam as we just needed a getaway to recharge ourselves and to find life in our lifeless soul (literally). So, as the usual procedures goes, we have to send an email to request for permission out of Salem from the Chief Administrative Officer, C.A.O. But it was an exceptional case as we were leaving on Friday and classes were on, so we are supposed to send another letter to the Dean of the school to ask permission to skip class (but we didn't know). After sending the email, these kononnya smart arse should either grant us the permission or inform us that it is not granted and how to apply/who to apply to as soon as possible.
On Friday evening at 5.30pm, i called the warden, another arse whole, and then only he told me i have to apply for another permission letter otherwise he will not give us permission.. *CRAP* It was too late, all offices were closed, the staffs have return to their home sweet home and how on earth am i going to get a permission letter? The hostel is surrounded by security guards in front and back so our only alternative was to escape out of the college like a prisoner escaping from jail.
We've got everything plan out and we will escape from the back of the hostel and run to Nursing College which is behind and get an Auto to town. For your information, our hostel is surrounded by walls to about 3 feet and the path we plan to run is full of rocks and stones with no lamp.
At 1am, we got change and hide in the one of the guys room to avoid the guards. As we escaped to the back of our hostel, a guard came dashing towards our direction because she was watching us from upstairs all the while. A few friends helped us and told us to quickly hide. We had to hid behind the hostel blocks, like some fugitive hiding from the soldiers. Our heart stop beating the moment the guard saw us. We had no choice but to dispersed and return to our room.
Our bus was at 2.30am and we had to leave soon to catch the bus, we came out 10 minutes later and again ran and hid in the same spot. At the same time, many of our friends were looking out for us. C and I were together, KL have escaped out already. As we were hiding, we heard Li Herng shouted 'Cindy, RUN!!' With no hesitation, both of us jump over the wall and ran straight without turning back. One of the guards whistle and awaken all the other guards. They all came after us. As we ran, we stepped over uneven rocks and kept running and running and running in the darkness. The fear that was creeping into my bone was unimaginable. Even thinking of it now still sends chills down my spine.
We ran across Nursing College, crossed the main road and hide (again) in one of the shops because the guards wouldn't let us go and they were still chasing after us. When our Auto came, we had to get onto it even if the guards tried to stop us. We wrote a letter addressed to the officials saying we were leaving and we apologized. Useless bunch of people, they just don't want to be blamed for our escape, with the formal letter, they let us go.
